Youbi Capital, our investor, told us there will be a huge gathering of crypto people in Hong Kong in April this year. And organised their side event for the Web3 Festival, which was the main event.
We agreed to create a custom mini-game for that side event. There were several problems that we needed to solve.
In order to win an NFT in the lottery, attendees need to complete an adventure in XSight. This adventure consists of 3 goals.
First goal is to collect 10 virtual coins. Coins can be collected by clicking them out from the 3D NPC characters, each representing a real fund or a portfolio company. We worked together with MeStar, Gritti, Cradles, Double Protocol, MindCoord, Manta, Themis Protocol, NFT Go, Secure 3, Move Flow, as well as Youbi Capital and Zonff Partners to create NPC characters with social profiles reflecting those companies' details.
Second goal was to send at least 3 messages to 3 unique users. This was supposed to increase engagement via XSight. Good thing - XSight natively supports messaging capabilities, so it was not a rocket science to count unique messages.
Third goal was to place user's Digital Avatar Twin, which, when executed, placed an NPC exactly where that user standed and kept its profile hologram visible for 24 hours. This was supposed to allow people who needed to leave the event to be still present virtually. In other words, this feature enabled intertemporal presence at the venue. Other attendees could still click their avatars and connect with them, even if they'd left.
Our banner was greeting people coming to the event at the very entrance.
The app was a hit! Many people downloaded and used the app during the event. And even after the event, cause it feels fantastic to collect those tokens by clicking the virtual avatars surrounding you.
Below is a video demo of what was happening at the venue:
In result, we've made tons of connections from VC and angel investors present at the event. As well as from other companies' founders for future collaborations.
“To be honest, I was not expecting such intense activities from this trip.” - Sergii, founder of XSight
But Hong Kong crypto community has proven to be even more vibrant than the startup community at, say Techcrunch Disrupt. I loved the vibe, the people's energy, and the overall atmosphere.
On a separate note, I must say Hong Kong itself is not like anything else. It combines so many things from the past and even from the future - that's probably why it is a perfect place a frontier community gatherings, such as crypto community.
We will most definitely come again if we have such an opportunity. To meet old and new friends and dive into the crypto atmosphere again.
For now - we have plenty of homework to process all valuable connections, including 35 interested investors and many more collaboration opportunities.
